Life ain't fair, neither are skate injuries!
Heal Us here in Marin County teaches a massage technique called Neuro Muscular Reprogramming. This therapy will get all of your muscles to work, correctly. I am convinced by the evidence based nature of NMR.
Here is a set of exercises for the back muscles and spine. These are ways to re-activate muscles that have become weakened or deactivated by injury. Lumbar/Core Strength and Stability Exercises.
NEW! This set of home therapies worked to reduce my back pain by over half! I wanted back control and was frustrated that chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, diet, extra sleep and exercise were not helping my everywhere-but-lumbar back pain.
STEP ONE: Massage your back with your hand directly on the 'spinous process' or 'vertebral bumps', focusing pressure in between these boney protrusions down the center of your back. Find where your most painful 'trigger points' are at. You are looking for small hardened knotted-up oblong structures that aren't present elsewhere. If you rub your finger back and forth you will feel better as it 'melon seeds'. I am researching what this structure is, but the best words I have are 'trigger point' and inflamed nerve and circulatory structures.
STEP TWO: Only if your back can handle it, not for broken backs! Use a vibrating massage wand directly on these spots for about ten minutes once a week. If you have multiple bad spots, focus on them separately one week at a time.
STEP THREE: Obtain a neodynium N42 disc magnet and use a compass to determine the positive side. Mark the positive side with paint if you like. Tape this to the spot on your back using bandage tape. It is small enough to wear during the day for a few hours but not recommended for overnight unless you are taping the magnet to your ear so that it can destroy any implants. No joking. I woke up one morning with my ear lobe severed and re-attached somehow... another story. My theory about the magnet is that it helps restore health to tissues by helping blood flow and breakdown of crystalized and inflamed trigger points.
STEP FOUR: I cannot directly recommend either component of this miracle ointment but only hint. Just a drop or two on the same day following massage and/or magnet therapy for extreme pain only. Obtain a wood-based solvent that is known by a four letter acronym. Since it is known to be cancer causing and putting it on your back's thoracic/abdominal area, I can't emphasize enough that this *should* *not* *be* *done*. But we are desperate with the pain right? The second optional component reduces the cancer risk and makes use of the wood solvent's capacity to deliver therapeutic compounds into the tissue beneath the skin. Simply soak some frop in the solvent for a couple days and then strain carefully. Store in a dropper bottle. Apply a couple drops directly on the problem spot (no more than a few times per year, total) and massage it in using the glass dropper tip, laying face down in bed for at least fifteen minutes afterward. A burning sensation is normal and will penetrate the bone. Healthy areas of the back do not burn but the problem spots will feel deep therapy. Very convincing effects. This style of ointment therapy is still used in veterinary care on race horse's legs for example.
